Numba One.

It’s my last full weekend in South Africa everyone! And I accomplished something I’ve been wanting to do the WHOLE time – attend a rugby game! I was so looking forward to it, and let me tell you, it was nothing like I imagined! The teams were Selbourne vs. Port Rex. Selbourne is a private boys school and Port Rex is a public school. I’m not sure what they feed those Selbourne boys but they were giant and they played like it as well. At one point in the game, a defender attempted to tackle a Selbourne player running with the ball, he wrapped his arms around his waist, got lifted off the ground and then fell off… the Selbourne played proceeded to keep running and score. Although it was a shut out 96 to 0, I enjoyed the whole atmosphere of the game! All the students dressed in full uniform, their chants, and the overall air of respect that flowed throughout the stands. Everyone seemed so… classy! There was one cheer leader, that controlled the sounds of the crowd by the wave of a striped cane.

I interrupt this programming for a short showing of photos
Some of this will be explained later...

My first park run!!

The Cheer Leader.

Get it.

They were just meant to be.

"Numba One"
All ready for Church!

My friends and I at my first rugby game!

That morning I did something else I’ve wanted to do for a while – go on a park run! It’s an organized run, put together my volunteers, where you run a gorgeous 5k course along coastline, trails, tar and rocks. They give you a barcode attached to your name. They record your time, placement and personal best from week to week. After 50 park runs, you get a bright red shirt with a large “50” on the back! I ran with my housemates dad and then we had breakfast at a café on the coast following. It felt as though I was with my own dad, this family has been such a blessing in taking me in as one of their own.

Along with attending my first rugby game and participating in my first park run, I was part of a major process that involves a cute baby and the sweet couple that I live with. They are in the process of adopting! It does my heart good to know that one less baby is parentless. This little girl is in for the ride of her life with these two crazies! As I write this, Momma Jayne is boarding the first leg of her flight to South Africa. My heart is raw with emotion because I’m ecstatic to know that I’ll be hugging the life out of her real soon, but that means I’ll be leaving my home for the past five months as well. It’s going to be a hard farewell. Sometimes I would rather not say anything to my loved ones here in SA and just slip away on a plane as to not face the sadness.

More dresses came in today! They are flooding in like floodwaters, thank you Jesus! There might be enough for all the girls to take one home. We are also putting together gift baggies for each of them including a blanket, lotion, nail polish and perfume. Praying that everything falls together the way it should on Friday. I’m very impressed with the community in coming together and donating – professional make up services, catering services, decorating of all the tables, flowers, music, photography, cupcakes, salads, dresses, shoes, jewelry, and their personal time. There is more than enough in Gods house!

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you this, but I have the biggest smile on my face as I type this post. I’m nervous, excited, concerned, thrilled, and ready for these next two weeks to unravel with action-packed memoires!
